On Monday, a 30-year-old woman in Maharashtra set her 10-year-old stepson genitals on fire.
The boy was playing with his one-and-a-half-year-old stepbrother toddler at their home. Seeing the toddler falling off the bed, the older brother pushed the toddler.
The Times of India reported, the women enraged by the act of child heated a household steel utensil used to flip flatbreads and burned the child.
The incident took place in a village in the western part of Maharashtra, near the city of Nashik.
After listening about the incident, the husband rushed home and took his child to the city civil hospital. A surgeon attending to the victim said he had suffered 20% burns in the lower abdomen and genitals. Luckily the boy is now in stable condition and under observation said, doctors.
According to senior police officer Kalpesh Kumar Chavan, the accused is the maternal aunt of the victim. She married the boy’s father four years ago after he divorced the victim’s mother.
The local police arrested the accused after FIR was registered against women by the victim’s father. The woman was charged for voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapons or means, voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means of the Indian Penal code and other sections of the Juvenile Justice Act and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POSCO) Act.
