Voice Sample of Gangster Lawrence Bishnoi to be Collected by Delhi Police

Lawrence Bishnoi is an Indian gangster and one of the alleged killer of Punjabi singer turned-politician Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu, also popularly known as Sidhu Moosewala.

Sidhu Moosewala was murdered on May 29th in Mansa district of Punjab by six sharpshooters who lodged 25 bullets in his body that killed him in 15 minutes.

Canada-based Goldy Brar, who has been part of the same gang as Bishnoi, had claimed the responsibility for Moosewala’s murder. Soon after the killing, police arrested Bishnoi for Moosewala’s murder.

On 23rd November 2022, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) had arrested Bishnoi in a case related to the alleged conspiracy to recruit youth to carry out terror strikes in Delhi and other parts of the country.

The case has been registered by NIA on August 26th which states that they have received tenable information about the members of criminal syndicates/gangs based in India and abroad, who were hatching a conspiracy to carry out terrorist acts.

However, Bishnoi’s name was not not mentioned in it but the police said that few among these gangs are operating from jail and others are decamping.

While tracking the call details for the case, the police has discovered that Bishnoi has allegedly used that number between April and May to phone his accomplices in Punjab and Canada. The phone was under surveillance in the case related to an Indian Mujahideen (IM) terrorist lodged in Tihar along with Bishnoi.

According to the Delhi police, the same phone was used in the conspiracy of Moosewala murder.

It has been informed by the police officers that they had started intercepting a mobile number that was being used by an IM terrorist lodged at jail 8 in Tihar. While tracking the calls the officers have discovered the involvement of Bishnoi in the calls.

To get the robust evidence, the Delhi Police special cell has decided to collect Bishnoi’s voice sample in the next week of December as part of its probe into whether the accused used the mobile of the IM terrorist lodged in the same prison as him.

Bishnoi’s voice sample will be collected between 20th to 23rd December and forwarded to the Central Forensic Science Laboratory, where its analysis will be conducted.

It has been estimated that if the voice samples match and the police are able to verify that Bishnoi took help from IM operatives, then this will be corroborating the police’s claims that gangsters based in Delhi, Punjab and Haryana are also trying to carry out terror strikes.
