UP Anti Terrorist Squad Arrested Two Terrorists in Lucknow
Uttar Pradesh Anti Terrorist Squad (ATS) arrested two terrorists in Lucknow. ATS, during the search, recovered explosives and a pressure cooker bomb.
The two men arrested by the ATS have been identified as Maseeruddin and Minhaj Ahmed, both residents of Lucknow district.
According to U.P. Police, both Maseeruddin and Minhaj were planning a terrorist attack which U.P ATS has uncovered.
ADG (Law and Order), Uttar Pradesh, Prashant Kumar said, “ATS UP has uncovered a big terror module. The team has arrested two terrorists linked with al-Qaeda’s Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind.”
“The terror activities were being run from Peshawar and Quetta on the Pakistan-Afghanistan border,” he added.
“Ahmed and Maseeruddin, with the help of Umar Halmandi, the head of the Uttar Pradesh module of the Al-Qaeda, were planning to unleash terror activities on August 15 in different cities of the state, especially its capital Lucknow“, the additional director general of police (ADGP) said.
While Minhaj Ahmed and Maseeruddin were crucial players of Al Qaeda, they also supported other people from Kanpur and Lucknow.
As per preliminary information, the terrorist module planned attacks on monuments and other public places.
As per reports, U.P. Anti Terrorist Squad is conducting searches across the state in connection with the terrorist plot. ATS also searched the residence of Minhaj and Maseeruddin.
