Telangana Woman Hangs Herself After Killing Her Two Daughters
A Woman in Telangana’s Yadadri Bhongir took her life after hanging two of her daughters to death on Thursday.
Turpunuri Umarani, a 30-year-old woman, was living with her husband named Venkatesh and three daughters, Harini (12), Lasya (8), and Shainy (3), in Ramnagar in the Choutuppal area of Yadadri Bhongir district. Turpunuri and Venkatesh were married for 14 years.
Umarani used to sleep inside the house along with her daughters while her husband used to sleep outside the house.
On Thursday morning, Venkatesh heard loud cries of his younger daughter and tried to open the door, but it was locked from inside.
With the help of other people, Venkatesh opened the door and found his wife and daughters hanging from the roof.
Shainy, who was struggling and about to die, was brought down and saved by the people, while Umarani, Harini, and Lasya died due to hanging.
According to the New Indian Express, the Telangana police suspect the woman could have taken the extreme step due to financial hardships. However, a report in the Times of India quotes police as saying that the woman ended her life due to constant torture from her husband, who used to beat her after getting drunk.
“We are also verifying if there were any issues between the couple, which could have forced her to take this step,” the New Indian Express quoted said DCP Bhongir K Narayana Reddy as saying. No suicide note was found, he added.
Police had registered a case of murder against Umarani for the death of her daughters and another case of suicide.
