Jasleen Kaur (27), her husband Jashdeep Singh (36), their daughter Aarohi (8 months) and Jashdeep’s brother, Amandeep (39) were found dead on Wednesday, 6th of October, afternoon after 48 hours of their kidnapping at gunpoint from their business office in Merced, California.

The sheriff of Merced County on Wednesday night said that a farmworker found the four bodies around 5.30 pm (California time) in an orchard. The announcement came after the authorities released a surveillance video of a man kidnapping them from their business place on Monday.

The video shows the moment the family was kidnapped and took away Jasdeep and Amandeep Singh with their hands zip-tied together. Moments later, the video shows the kidnapper leading Jasleen and her eight-month-old baby, Aarohi, out of the building into a truck.

Jesus Manuel Salgado (48) has been suspected for the brutal murders. He was convicted of armed robbery in 2005 and spent 11 years in prison. On Tuesday he attempted suicide in the nearby town of Atwater after being arrested for the murder.

The sheriff’s office said the suspect’s own family contacted authorities reporting that Salgado had admitted to being involved in the kidnapping. The suspect has been talking off and on, based upon his condition. And they still have investigators with the suspect and are gleaning information from that.

California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation said he was released from prison in 2015 and discharged from parole three years later.

Sheriff Warnke said that after the kidnappings, an ATM card belonging to one of the victims was used in Atwater, 14 km north of Merced, adding that the kidnapper made no ransom demands in what he believes was a financially motivated crime.

One of the relatives of Jasleen Kaur said that the accused had worked with the Sikh family (victims) for 4-5 months around a one and half year ago.

The investigation is still going on as the motive of the murders has not been disclosed and Salgado has not been charged as of now.
