Two Psycho go on Shooting Spree in Begusarai Killing 1 Person, 11 Injured
On 13 September, in a bizarre incident, one person was killed and 11 others were critically injured after two bike-borne criminals on a motorcycle went on a rampage during a shooting spree in Bihar’s Begusarai district on Tuesday evening. The incident has caused panic in the general public. The police have advised the people to stay safe at their homes.
The police are clueless about the attackers, who shot pedestrians coming in their way in different police stations of the district. Begusarai police closed the district borders and launched a manhunt to nab the shooters.
The deceased was identified as Chandan Kumar. While two persons were shot at in Mallehpur, three persons shot at near Barauni thermal power station chowk, two in Barauni city, two in Tihra block, and two in Bachhwara block.
A thorough probe into the incident has been initiated by the police. CCTV footage of the incident is being analyzed and a team of police is investigating the matter.
The first incident occurred at a place under Tigra police station at 6 p.m. The attackers were carrying sophisticated weapons and headed towards the Bachhwara police station area. The attackers started indiscriminate firing on NH 31 and then headed towards NH 28 and the eyewitnesses have said that they have entered Barauni city.
Yogendra Kumar, SP Begusarai told the media, “We have formed 3 teams for investigation. CCTV footage is being searched. Family members of the injured and deceased have blocked NH-28. According to the doctors, a pistol was used during the incident. The situation is under control. We got information that at 4 different police station areas, two criminals on a bike have shot people in an indiscriminate manner.”
He added, “The gunmen went to Barauni Thermal Chowk, Barauni, Teghra, Bachwara and Rajendra Bridge, and continued firing at people, indiscriminately”.
Some of the injured were admitted to the government hospital in Begusarai, while some were sent to Patna for better treatment.
Rajya Sabha MP Rakesh Sinha tweeted, “had warned the police administration that the nexus of politics, crime and contracting is taking Begusarai back to the sixties when the murder was common. Today, a hail of bullets injured a dozen people and even died. Strict action is needed,”.
MoS(Minister of state) Ashwini Chaubey said, “Jungle Raj has come again in Bihar and there is no proper law and order.” He also accused the Nitish Kumar-led Bihar government of bringing back the dreaded ‘Jungle Raj’.
Begusarai-based BJP MP and Union Minister Giriraj Singh, also claimed that criminals have no respect for the law. He said, “There is no government in Bihar, and no fear of law among criminals. The criminals fearlessly fired at several people and travelled 30 km across four police station areas, but they weren’t caught by police. The CM should give a statement on this.”
However the CM of Bihar Shri Nitish Kumar has not given any statement regarding the shooting spree till now.
