RPG Attacks on Tarn Taran Police Station

At the dawn of 10th December 2022, the Sarhali police station was attacked by a suspected rocket launcher. The police is suspecting it to be a terrorist attack.

Soon after the attack, the police launched an investigating probe and it has been estimated that a rocket-propelled grenade (RPG) is used for the attacks.

As per the latest information, the banned Khalistani terror outfit Sikhs For Justice (SFJ) has claimed responsibility for the RPG attack at the police station and has threatened that it would carry out multiple such attacks will in the coming days. 

According to state police chief a case has been registered under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, and a forensic probe has also been launched at the police station.

Forensic team from the district as well as from the Chandigarh has been working on the case and till now it has been told that the RPG was fired 100-150 meters away from the station. 

Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav, said that they will be investigating the claims made by SFJ as well as all angles and theories related to the attacks. They are also focusing on the handlers and operators in Pakistan, elements they’re in touch within Europe, North America & their links are also being probed so that real perpetrators are arrested soon.

He has assured the general public that they are investigating the case, so they don’t need to be afraid of anything. He has also requested the people to cooperate with the police to nab the accused.

Well this is not the first attack, a similar attack took place in Mohali police station on May 9th this year. The Mohali Superintendent of Police (HQ) Ravinder Pal Singh called it a ‘minor blast’ saying that no one was harmed in the incident. 

The investigations found that this attack was a conspiracy of the Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) one of the banned organization in India. Also when the ammunition head was assessed, police found that it was the RPG-22 code-named ‘Netto’.

This ‘Netto’ is a one shot disposable Soviet anti-tank rocket launcher that propels a 72.5 mm fin-stabilized projectile. In fact when required, it can be prepared within 10 seconds before the fire. Also the ammunition can penetrate 1.2 meters of brick, 400mm of armor or 1 meter of reinforced concrete.

It has been found that this attack was carried out jointly by the axis of Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) and gangsters with the backing of Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and 6 persons were arrested related to the case.
