Mumbai police on Monday arrested Raj Kundra, a famous businessman, and husband of Shilpa Shetty, over a case involving pornographic films.
Mumbai police, in their statement, said Raj Kundra appears to be a key conspirator in the case, and they have sufficient evidence against him.
In February 2021, Mumbai police registered a case that involved creating pornographic films and publishing them through some apps.
“There was a case registered with the Crime Branch Mumbai in Feb 2021 about the creation of pornographic films and publishing them through some Apps. We’ve arrested Mr. Raj Kundra in this case on 19/7/21 as he appears to be the key conspirator of this. We have sufficient evidence regarding this,” the Mumbai Police Commissioner said in a statement.
What’s App chats are said to be critical pieces of evidence of his involvement in the case.
The chats reportedly have Kundra and his partners discussing revenue gains and profit-sharing from the content sold on the mobile application. According to the chats, a partner was quoted saying, “We are releasing only one movie a week so yes, the sales pick up…“
Kundra denied all allegations and immediately filed a plea for anticipatory bail. Raj Kundra is the owner of an app called JL Stream.
The police have registered a case against Raj Kundra for indulging in the obscene act in public places and publicly exhibiting or circulating obscene books or literature under the Information Technology Act.
