January 26 marks a special day for Indians as the Indian constitution came into effect on this day in 1950. It has been celebrated ever since by the citizens with joy in schools and institutions.
January 26, 2021, was not the same though as the whole world witnessed a massive clash between the Delhi police and protesters who were protesting for the new farm bills introduced by the Modi government.
What happened on January 26, 2021?
Its been months since the farmers have come onto the roads in the chilly winter presenting their anger against the government’s decision.
On Republic Day, the farmer unions had sought permission to take a tractor rally through the roads of Delhi and the route was fully decided. However, some of the violent protesters, diverted from their route and went to different routes clashing with the police.
Several, police personnel were injured in the clashes as well as protesters. However, one farmer died trying to Overspeed the tractor over a barricade and in the process died due to the upside-down of a tractor.
The peaceful protest soon became a violent and dangerous one in which the protesters went to Red Fort after the Indian Flag was hoisted. Protesters went to Red Fort and unfurled their flags from its ramparts.
