As crimes are increasing day by day, technology is also increasing as well as advancing with the same velocity and giving rise to many organizations and techniques. Although technology has vast spectra and new advancements are taking place day by day but still there are some ways which are old fashioned or something which cannot give proper and best results for DNA detection.
DNA detection is one such advancement in modern science that has changed not only the thinking of a person but lifestyle too.
Well, there are still some restrictions or drawbacks of this method DNA or sometimes it failed to give one an exact result.
If we talk about the method of DNA detection in the crimes like sexual assault, there are many problems and the environment of a courtroom becomes silent. For this reason, Mike Marciano, a research assistant professor has come forward to help this problem out.
As the Director of Research for Forensic and National Security Sciences Institute ( FNSSI ), he has contributed to solving the problems that arise the DNA detection in a sexual assault crime.
The current method or procedure of DNA detection involves the collection of DNA evidence from the crime spot and then visualizing it for DNA. If the sample contains DNA, then it is sent to the FBI DNA system where the sample is tested again and law enforcement is called to match the sample with victims or offenders.
As the method is very time-consuming, there is another drawback of the method as the DNA can be lost from the sample after 72 hours or more than that which can extend the time for a case to be solved.
He was approached with a new method called the DEPArray NxT System, cancer equipment developed by an Italian company Manarini Silicon Biosynthesis that can easily separate epithelial cells and sperm cells and can effectively count the numbers also, in 2018.
It can also identify DNA even in a small amount or the sample taken after 72 hours or more with accuracy. It can also easily extract specific DNA from a mixture of DNAs. Marciano says that it is an interesting and exciting work and its mission is to support forensic genetics and always do exciting research and experiments with such innovations.
Although tested more than 200 times but the researchers are still testing and examining it properly. They can say with surety that the method can be of many importance and useful but the only drawback is that it is still not accepted by the legal system.
Marciano is trying better than yesterday and applied to National Institute for Justice to grant and give permission to modern technology so that the forensic and other systems can do better in cases like sexual assault. Many students have also come forward in his mission to contribute a little with such a technology that can change a cause for some good reason.
