Since the 1990’s there have been various cases where kids were raped brutally and killed. After a series of such crimes occurred, psychologists started to conduct researches on the minds and behavioral patterns of criminals who conducted such crimes and observed that most of them suffered Pedophilia.

Pedophilia refers to a psychological disorder described by recurring, intense sexually arousing fantasies, urges, or behavior towards children usually younger than 13 years. It is considered a disorder due to the facts like those mentioned above crimes!

Many people tend to develop these over-closed interactions out of depression. Instead of treating it, they get enslaved by the condition, leading to forcing children into sexual activity which further leads to either killing them or raping them brutally.

Pedophilic profiles show various strands or phases of these conditions, some of them are not even pedophiles until they are intoxicated. One such case is discussed below.

A Pedophilic Profile

Ravinder Kumar was born in 1991, in Badaun, Uttar Pradesh. His father was a plumber in outer Delhi and his mother was a housewife. His family was poor and he dropped out of college when he was 21 years old.

He committed his first crime around 2008 when he was just 17 years old. Even though he was arrested for the same, due to lack of evidence he was guaranteed bail.

On July 14th, 2011, a six-year-old girl went missing. The next evening her corpse was found from a construction building on its ground floor. She was brutally raped. Next to her body, the police found Mr. Sunny’s driving license. On questioning Sunny it was found that he was thrashed by three men including Kumar and they stole his belongings. This led to the final arrest of Ravinder Kumar.

He was apprehended on July 16, 2011, after he confessed to the series of havocs he had committed. During the daytime, Kumar worked with a truck owner as a helper. He seemed all normal to the people around him and his parents. He used to visit his parents frequently too.

At night, driven by drugs, alcohol, and addiction to porn he hunted down children to whom he was attracted. This sensation increased only while he was drunk. He used to watch child porn and adult Hollywood movies dubbed in Hindi.

The twist in the story was, unlike other pedophiles, he never raped the children and killed them. He preferred necrophilia- an act of sexual intercourse with dead bodies. While confessing he stated that abusing the dead kid was easier because they would never scream, due to which he could complete his actions without drawing much attention.

Modus Operandi and Motive of Ravinder Kumar

Ravinder Kumar was a college dropout. He used to lure children by either offering them a toffee or money around ten to twenty rupees. If they refused to go with him, he would just grab them.

The abducted kids were taken to isolated areas such as old empty construction sites, buildings, vents, and sometimes even crematorium grounds. He killed children by strangling mostly, and he preferred to do it either in the afternoons or nights.

Depending upon the amount of struggle the kids throw at him, he used to choose his plans. If the kid does not resist much, he finishes it fast and lets go of him/her after making sure they would never expose his identity.

However, this had happened rarely, as most of his victims strived hard to free themselves. After strangling and performing necrophilia he would dump their body either on the crime scene itself or just drag it into a dump yard, he never made any efforts to dispose of the bodies.

This was because all of his victims were homeless children which included, sons and daughters of construction workers, rag pickers, servants, etc. He used to stay at his friends’ or relatives’ homes. Also, he never stayed at one place for more than two to three months.

The Infringement Method

Kumar’s first cruelty at the age of 17 in 2008 was to a little girl, the daughter of one of the laborers from the Delhi Metro construction site. She was raped and killed at an isolated spot near the site. However her body could not be found, but there was evidence along with Kumar’s confession later on.

In 2009 he lured a laborer’s son near Vijay Vihar and buggered him sexually. Later on, the boy was strangled to death. The case was registered and the police arrested Kumar. Due to lack of evidence he received bail.

On escaping twice from the judiciary, Kumar became bold and better. He went on to commit multiple crimes across Delhi, Mundka, Samaypur Badli, Begampur, and Vijay Vihar. Children of poor families started to disappear in the following years.

The crime spree that started in 2008 continued for three years. Half of the bodies were not found and even those corpses which they were able to find were all brutally strangled and raped. The majority of them were discovered late and the decomposition had started.

In 2010, in Begampur, South Delhi, an 8-year-old boy was abducted by Kumar. He found it hard to handle the kid as he was extremely strong trying to let go of his grip. Hence with no other way, Kumar slit his throat and left him on the ground.

Unfortunately for Kumar, the kid was not dead. He survived and once Kumar left the spot, the boy was found bleeding by the police near a sewer. Kumar was arrested due to suspicion, however, he had bailed out once again as the victim failed to identify him.

In 2011, when the six-year-old case surfaced, he was arrested with direct evidence. Kumar had lured this girl when she was walking towards the fields to go to the toilet at around 6:30 am. He offered her ten rupees and took her to the construction building, strangled her, and raped her corpse.

Soon after that, he ran from there to his cousin’s house. After finding the relevant evidence as mentioned before he was arrested by the police. This time he did not deny any of the accusations and was jailed henceforth.

Few months after he was arrested while in an interview with the BBC news channel he said, “I am indeed guilty of my actions after I commit the crimes I sit thinking whatever I did was wrong, but the moment I get drunk on alcohol or gets intoxicated I lose control and sometimes it is required for a man to lose control”.

The barbarous killer’s words without slight bewilderment were recorded.

Conspiracies & Methods

After Ravinder Kumar was arrested, his parents were informed. They were shocked and reached the police station to meet their son. As per Mr. Brahmanand, Kumar’s father, the case was fabricated. He said that his son had claimed that he was beaten up to do whatever the police asked him to.

He never agreed with the law enforcement agencies and stated that his son would never do such a thing as being a coward since childhood. He was even scared to get into fights with friends during school and college. Especially his crime confession was altered, first, he had confessed to 15 of them and after a few days he confessed it to be more.

The BBC reporter who interviewed him, resonated with Kumar’s words as “rehearsed”. She had a major doubt as he spoke as if he was trained to give something like a speech. However many people also suggested it could be due to him repeating the statements to all the media and authorities.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner in charge told in his statement that Kumar started confessing like a parrot even without the police forcing him to. They did not even have to beat him at least once.

Even in court, he confessed to all the crimes he had committed without hesitation. Hence even with all the conspiracies, the police still stood on their roots and the court sentenced him to life imprisonment after counseling sessions in the Psychiatry department of New Delhi.
