In Uttar Pradesh’s Bulandshahr district, a 20-year girl was set on fire by her boyfriend’s younger brother. The girl suffered around 40 percent burns.
The accused is identified as Pawan, is a brick kiln worker. Both accused and victims were neighbors in the Khurja town.
Pawan allegedly called the girl to his house, where he threw petrol on her. He then set her ablaze and fled.
“The girl in her statement has alleged that Pawan did not like her relationship with his elder brother. He called her to his house. As soon as she entered, he poured petrol on her and set her on fire. Based on her statement we have arrested the accused,” the report quoted Bulandshahr SSP Santosh Kumar Singh as saying.
According to SSP, the police are investigating the matter. The sequence of events appears to be suspicious people asserted that the accused was present at the brick kiln at the time of the alleged incident.
