Delhi police have registered FIR against Instagram for allegedly showing lord Shiva in an objectionable manner. Manish Singh, a resident of Delhi and leader of Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP), filed an FIR after stickers of Lord Shiva with some glass surfaced on Instagram.
FIR on the grounds of hurting the religious sentiments has been filed.
The stickers can be found by searching lord shiva on the Instagram story page. According to the complaint, the stickers were provided by Instagram himself. Complaint further alleged that the GIF had been created to hurt Hindu commuting.
In his complaint, he stated, “Accused above-named have portrayed Lord Shiva in a terrible taste, it would be pertinent to mention herein that Lord Shiva is venerated by millions and millions of Hindus as the Supreme God.”
“That the accused, in one of their Graphics Interchange Format (GIF), have shown the Supreme God, Lord Shiva, as holding a glass of wine in one hand and a mobile phone in the other hand,” Singh complained.
“Given the above stated, it is, therefore,e, most respectfully submitted that a criminal case is registered against the CEO and other officials of Instagram, who in conspiracy with other persons have committed offenses falling within the parameters of the Indian Penal Code. Also, under the Information Technology Act,” Singh said.
As per the reports, many complaints have been registered against Instagram.
