IMC Uttarakhand Demands Written Apology From Baba Ramdev
Indian Medical Association(IMC) Uttarakhand served a notice to yoga guru Baba Ramdev. The association demanded an apology for his degrading remarks against Allopathy and management of Covid using allopathy medicines.
The notice served to Ramdev association said if Baba Ramdev does not give a written apology and post a video countering the statement within fifteen-day, then they will file a defamation suit against him demanding 1000 cr compensation.
“In the letter, it is written that there is a lot of resentment among IMA doctors against statement of Baba Ramdev. The Union health minister has also sent a notice to Ramdev on the same stating that the statement is considered incorrect“, IMA state unit president Dr. Ajay Khanna had said.
Patanjali Yog peeth trust denied the statement issued by the IMA that he is trying to mislead people. Baba Earlier in his press conference, Baba Ramdev withdrew his statement after receiving a letter from Health Ministry and explained his remarks. He also said that allopathy doctors should also not disrespect Ayurveda by calling it pseudoscience.
While defending Ramdev Haridwar’s statement based on Patanjali Yogpeeth trust, Yog Guru Ramdev was only reading the forwarded message that he received through what’s app.
Patanjali Yogpeeth general secretary Acharya Balkrishna had said that Ramdev has “no ill-will against modern science and good practitioners of modern medicine” and “what is attributed against him is false.”
In his letter written to Baba Ramdev, the Health Minister said, “You must be made aware that the cure for all the serious illnesses such as chickenpox, polio, Ebola, SARS, and tuberculosis was developed in Allopathy. Even the development of vaccines in the fight against pandemic is the result of Allopathy.”
“It’s very unfortunate for you to say that people died from consuming allopathic medicines.”
“We do not oppose modern medical science and Allopathy. We believe that Allopathy has shown immense progress in surgery and the lifesaving system and served humanity. My statement has been quoted as part of a WhatsApp message that I was reading during a volunteers meeting. I am sorry if it has hurt anyone’s sentiment,” wrote Ramdev in his letter to the Union health minister in Hindi.
Top Indian doctors said that Baba Ramdev should be prosecuted under the Epidemic Diseases Act. IMA had also asked the central government to take action on Baba for his unscientific remark on Allopathy.
“Baba Ramdev has belittled the sacrifice of more than 1200 doctors who have laid down their lives in the line of duty serving mankind during the pandemic,” said a statement released by the IMA on Saturday.
On 25 May, Ramdev posted a tweet on his Twitter handle and posed 25 questions to Indian Medical Association.

“More people died of allopathic treatment than those who died of oxygen shortage or because of COVID-19.” He further stated that all the medicines used by doctors, even for treating fever, had also failed. He also mentioned plasma therapy had also failed in treating the patients.”
