3 Adults Lynched by Mob in Tripura on Suspecting Cattle Theft

A Mob in the khowai district of Tripura lynched three people on suspicion of cattle theft in the early hours of Sunday.

According to Kiran Kumar, superintendent of police, people of Namanjoypara saw a mini truck heading towards Agartala carrying five cattle. Around 4.30 am, they chased the truck and stopped it near North Maharanipur village.

The villagers started beating the three victims traveling along with five cattles in the mini-truck, using dangerous weapons and lynched two of them while one managed to flee.

The mob chased the third person and lynched him at Mungiakami, a tribal hamlet near North Maharanipur.

Police reached the two locations immediately and provided medical help to the victims by taking them to Agartala hospital. The attending doctors declared that they were brought dead, Kumar said.

As per police investigation, the deceased has been identified as Jayed Hossain (30), Billal Miah (28), and Saiful Islam (18), all residents of the Sonamura subdivision in the Sepahijala district.

Police have registered two cases, one of mob lynching and the other related to cattle theft. The police had not arrested any person till now.
